The Williams Flute Company was founded in 1990 by David C. Williams after more than 25 years as a performing musician in a variety of musical genres.

Mr. Williams' personal quest to define a better instrument for his own playing needs has evolved into a definitive example of modern flute design.

The Williams Flute Shop produces a limited number of instruments each year; one flute at a time. We are dedicated artisans with a single mission: create the finest flutes in the world.

"My approach to the flute (in both playing and construction) may best be described as pragmatic in nature.

I firmly believe that the subjective experience of making music takes precedent over any and all advice or admonition from experts. When one finds that piece of equipment which helps the music-making process flow in a more relaxed or easier manner, a precedent is established which may not be ignored.

I have based my work on an empirical evaluation of all that I am able to explore around me. I am always open to improvement and critique of my work; I consider all of my accomplishments to be works in progress."
